PERINEUM

PERINEUM: Why and how to rehabilitate it. You had perhaps never heard about perinea before pregnancy. However it plays an essential part. One perineum not tonic implies urinary incontinences and gases which will develop with the age, discomfort and less pleasure at the time of the sexual intercourse.

Constituted of soft muscles, perineum includes the pelvic floor. Located under the pubis, it supports the organs and must have a certain tonicity. Already put at hard test during the pregnancy, it knows a new test during the childbirth: it must be completely slack in order to let pass the head of the baby.

The interest of its rehabilitation will be to give again its tonicity of origin to it. The most natural method consists in contracting all the muscles of the pelvic floor. These exercises must be carried out many times every day. There are other methods which your therapist can teach you but whatever they are, it is important to follow them to avoid big problems of incontinence later.
